“Scott Fischman, at age 23, became the youngest player ever to win two championships. He collected $100,200 for first place. Only three days ago, Fischman won his first gold bracelet in the $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event – netting $300,000. This now puts his money winnings at this year’s WSOP at $400,200 – the highest of any player at the moment.

What makes Fischman’s poker accomplishments all the more impressive is that he did it versus gigantic fields. Years ago, most poker tournaments attracted no more than a few hundred players. But this year, Fischman faced the daunting task of plowing through 831 players in the No-Limit hold’em event (which he won) and another 237 players in the H.O.R.S.E. event (another win). Hence, what we have witnessed here at the WSOP within a two-day period has indeed been history making.”

In his debut year and at the ripe age of 24, Scott Fischman is the youngest player to win two, back-to-back World Series of Poker bracelets. In his first year on the tournament circuit, he was ranked 7th in the world by Card Player Magazine and grossed more than $600,000 for 2004. Fischman is also an avid internet player, consistently winning major online tournaments and considered one of the foremost online players. Utilizing his vast knowledge, experience and love of online poker, he recently launched an online cardroom of his own, TheFishTank.com, on the Doyle Brunson Poker Network, affiliating himself with the legend himself, Doyle Brunson.

Born in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and raised for the first half of his life in Somers Point, New Jersey, Scott first discovered poker after he moved to Las Vegas in 1992. After being introduced to the game by the grandson of a former World Series of Poker champion, Scott quickly became hooked—playing poker with his friends as often as possible. As soon as Scott turned 21, he entered the poker circuit as a dealer. But, after a year of dealing cards at The Mirage, Scott developed Rheumatoid Arthritis, which attacked the joints in his hands and eventually forced him out of his current profession and into his destined role as a player.

Scott’s first professional tournament was in January of 2004 at The Grand American Poker Classic in Tunica, MS where he placed 4th. Since then he has appeared at nine final tables, including those at the Orleans Open, the Mirage Poker Showdown and the coveted World Series of Poker Events; where he unexpectedly defeated two poker giants: former WSOP champion Joe Awada in the No-Limit Hold ‘em competition, and John Cover in a record-breaking H.O.R.S.E. victory. His impressive run continued when he won the World Poker Tour Young Guns of Poker invitational tournament at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. By being victorious at this winner-take-all tournament, Fischman earned a $25,000 seat in the 2005 WPT Championship. What has really made Fischman a star is television. Just recently, as shown on NBC, he beat Annie Duke, Dennis Wager, and David Sklansky in The National Heads-up Poker Championship to advance to the round of eight. During the 2004 World Series of Poker, ESPN took a special interest in Fischman and “The Crew,” his group of poker buddies, showcasing them as the new generation of poker. And then to really prove his standing as the hottest young poker player in the world, he won the World Poker Tour Young Guns Championship. He has also been featured in Bluff, All In, and Rolling Stone magazine. Rolling Stone said, “At 24, the world’s #6-rated player, Fischman has been the Face of Gen P (Generation Poker) since a month-long rampage at Binion’s Casino back in May 2004, where he won $400,500 in less than three days, and took two ‘bracelets,’ the talisman-like jewelry given to winners of the 33 events at the annual World Series of Poker.” Most recently, Fischman finished 2nd in the first event of the 2005 World Series of Poker, beating out the largest field for a preliminary event in the history of the World Series of Poker and cashing close to half a million dollars.
